The largest problem is that while there is ample evidence of the limited long-term benefit of psychiatric medications, psychiatrists are pressured to be psychopharmacologists instead of psychotherapists. Psychiatrists are influenced by the pharmaceutical industry, which makes enormous profits from psychiatric drugs.
